About AMERS Orphans Organisation Inc

We are a nonprofit, ACNC-registered Australian charity with one purpose: ensuring orphans and vulnerable children grow up safe, educated and healthy.

Who we are

AMERS Orphans Organisation Inc began as a small group of community volunteers who saw children in crisis falling through the gaps — children who had lost their parents and had nowhere safe to turn. What started as informal help with meals and school supplies grew into a structured charitable organisation providing shelter, education and healthcare.

Today we operate as an incorporated association and a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC). Being registered means we meet national standards of governance, transparency and accountability, and our annual reports and financial statements are publicly available on the ACNC Charity Register.

We are proudly nonprofit. No part of our income or assets is distributed to members or directors — everything is reinvested into care for children.

Our mission, vision and values

These principles guide every decision our board, staff and volunteers make.

Our Mission

To provide orphans and vulnerable children with safe shelter, quality education and essential healthcare, delivered with dignity, consistency and love.

Our Vision

A community where no child is left without care — where every orphan has the same chance to learn, heal and build a hopeful future as any other child.

Our Values

Best interests of the child first. Transparency with our donors. Respect for every child's culture and identity. Accountability in every dollar we spend.

Governance and safeguarding

Our organisation is governed by a voluntary board responsible for strategy, financial oversight and compliance. The board meets regularly, reviews program outcomes and ensures we meet all obligations as a registered charity.

Child safety is non-negotiable. All staff, carers and volunteers who work with children undergo screening and reference checks, follow a written child-safe code of conduct, and receive training in recognising and responding to harm. Concerns can be raised confidentially at any time through our contact page.

We also maintain clear financial controls: donations are receipted, spending is tracked against programs, and our accounts are reviewed annually before being lodged with the ACNC.

Why this work matters

Research is unambiguous: children who grow up without stable parental care are far more likely to experience homelessness, leave school early and suffer poor physical and mental health. Early, consistent intervention changes those trajectories dramatically.

A safe bed interrupts crisis. A returned place in school restores routine and ambition. Healthcare and counselling repair what trauma has damaged. Our three programs exist because each one only fully works when the others are present too.

When you support AMERS Orphans Organisation Inc, you are not funding an abstract cause — you are funding a specific child’s meal, textbook, vaccination and safe night’s sleep.
